Driving Instruction Permit

Getting a driver’s license with a driving instruction permit

a) At least 25 years old

b) Held a B-class license for at least 5 years

c) Not too many traffic violations. More information from here

a) The student must be at least 16 years old

b) The driving instruction permit application can be submitted online to Traficom or by booking an appointment at an Ajovarma service point

c) Fill out the application online here

If you want 2 instructors or 2 students on one permit, the application must be done at an Ajovarma service point

Applications are available at the service point, and it’s a good idea to arrive a bit early to fill out the forms

e) The driving instruction permit decision will be delivered to the instructor within 3 weeks

f) The permit is valid for a maximum of 3 years

g) Instruction can begin once the permit is granted

h) The student’s driving license permit does not need to be valid when instruction begins

a) The driving license permit must be valid before the theory test

b) Driving instruction can begin before the permit is valid

c) The application can be submitted online to Traficom or by booking an appointment at an Ajovarma service point

You will need 2 passport photos and an ID

a) EAS training is required if the student is getting their first motor vehicle driver’s license (No prior moped, light motorcycle, or tractor license)

b) These theory lessons must be taken at a driving school or with another Traficom-approved instructor

c) The lessons can be attended either virtually or in person

Complete at least the legally required 10 hours of driving lessons

In driving instruction, the instructor is considered the driver

– 50 minutes is considered one hour of driving instruction

The instructor is responsible for ensuring the student is ready to move to on-road driving

The driving instruction permit must be with you during driving instruction

The EAS certificate must be with you during driving instruction (if required)

Oppiauto’s service is also very affordable compared to other options (for example, a 12-hour package costs less than just an installed instruction pedal to your own car)

You can use purchased hours one at a time if you prefer

Oppiautos are located at gas station parking lots, making pickup, refueling, and return easy

All Oppiautos come with guides to enhance driving instruction

Oppiautos also include traffic cones and tip booklets to boost the effectiveness of the lessons

b) Record the progress of instruction on this teaching card (E505sr form)

c) After completing the driving instruction, fill out this certificate of instruction and examination (E100 form)

The form must be signed and presented at both the theory and driving tests

a) You must complete at least the legally required 10 hours of driving lessons before you can take the RTK

b) RTK must be completed before the driving test

c) RTK must be completed at a driving school or with another Traficom-approved instructor

The training includes 4 hours of theory lessons and 4 hours of driving lessons

The driving lessons include night driving and slippery road driving, soome of which can be done using a simulator

a) The driving license permit must be valid before booking the theory test

b) The theory test is taken at an Ajovarma service point

Remember to bring:

  • A photo ID
  • The E100 form signed by the instructor, completed at least for the theory lessons
  • The EAS certificate (if required)
  • Parental consent if you are under 18 (this form)

a) At least the legally required 10 hours of driving lessons must be completed

b) The theory test must be passed successfully

c) You can book the test no earlier than one month before the student turns 18

d) The driving test is taken at an Ajovarma service point

  • Proof of completing RTK (E113sr form)
  • Age exception permit if you are under 18

a) If you obtained your driver’s license with an age exception permit, you must keep the permit with you while driving until you turn 18 years old
